You wouldn't believe me even if I told you teachers make me want to quit school. I've been in honors and AP classes my whole life, and I don't mind being held to a high standard and having a heavy work load. My problem stems from when teachers call you irresponsible or pull the "you're supposed to be AP students" card. I know that I'm in a higher level class, but that does not mean I'm not allowed to make mistakes! Today I was supposed to bring my book to class and I truly just forgot. It slipped my mind completely. My teacher decided to ridicule me as long as 5 other classmates by calling us irresponsible and shaming us. I get it, we are held to high standards but damn! Am I not allowed to forget something one time!?! It is ridiculous the authority and disrespect teachers have for their students when they forget. Whether students forget homework, books, or a pencil teachers are always there to jump in and ridicule their student in front of the whole class. Everyone makes mistakes and I get that sometimes you forget something when your teacher is having a bad day, but really teachers? Can you please try to understand that your class is not always the top priority, and even though you have everyone's attention for a full 50 minutes, there are still seven other 50 minutes class periods who are led by teachers with the same expectations. Nothing makes me feel shittier than being nagged and and disrespected for 50 whole minutes of my school day. The passive aggressive stabs at how students aren't meeting their teachers expectations need to stop! So, because some, not all, but some, teachers have to live through the joy they get by making their students feel like an ant stomped on multiple times by a durranged child, I want to quit school. You wouldn't believe me even if I told you people who only talk about their sport are annoying. I have always found it extremely annoying when you trying to hold a conversation with someone and then they start talking about running or football. I understand you're super excited to be a part of such a great team, but seriously??? The ridiculousness gets to a point where you don't want to talk to or be near those type of people anymore. My gym class consists of all athletes who lift weights to become stronger, and my rack is all runners. I love each of them dearly; however, it is softy starting when I can never contribute to conversation because it's always about running. There is so much more to a friendship than participating in the same sport, and honestly, I just don't understand why the hell people can only talk about one thing. Overall, I guess it would just be really great if people weren't so annoying and concerned with only one activity. Have multiple facets to a conversation and not so annoying. Otherwise, the next thing you know, you'll be 40 and only talking about your fantasy football team with no real friends because you've pissed them all off by your ignorance and lack of a well rounded personality. |
